Lucy Michelle

Lucy Michelle, from Lucy Michelle and the Velvet Lapelles, has been getting a lot of airtime at our house over the past few weeks. Her new album, Attack of the Heart, is sweet and lovely. This ablum is folk music at its best; storytelling set to simple yet full piano and guitar music. She has had a lot of community support to create this album. Information about her kickstarter to create this album can be found here, and I believe is the only place to buy it (?). There is also a short video on the page about her new album. I have not been able to find any of these tracks on youtube or other internet sources to share here, unfortunately. You will just have to take my word for it, but it is a sweet album through and through. The last track, Honeymoon, is a heartwarmingly familiar tale of a couple honeymooning in northern MN. She captures her own account, as well as mine, quite well. I think a good folk singer can tell someone else's story, while evoking the listeners own experiences and feelings. This album does that for me.

Here is the song 'Just a Kid' with her band, the Velvet Lapelles from their recent album Heat:

Lucy Michelle and the Velvet Lapelles have also recently made a guest appearance on my sons' favorite television show "The Choo Choo Bob Show". The Choo Choo Bob Show has been committed to highlighting local (and not so local) artists, including another family favorite, the local bluegrass group The Roe Family Singers. Below is the clip from their 2012 Choo Choo Bob Christmas Adventure Show:

We have had the privelage of attending both Choo Choo Bob Live shows at the Riverview Theater. The actors from the show perform as part of the Choo Choo Bob Band, and then use the big screen to air their new episodes. Below is a bonus clip of one of their smallest, biggest fans getting his boogie on back in October.
