Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros...
What I loved about this concert:
-The first three songs (from their 'Up from Below' album)
-A few songs from 'Alexander', including 'Truth' as shown above taken by some other concert goer.
-I was able to take the Minneapolis Greenway directly to the concert from my house.
-There were tents with beer.
-The opening band rocked.
What I found disappointing about this concert:
-Songs from the new album (a little too bubble gum for my taste).
-There were so many musicians, that it wasn't until the end of the show upon getting closer to the stage that I noticed the incredible range of instrumentation. The slightly annoying lack of coordination left the sounds of a violin, accordion, countless guitars, piano, and who knows what else, go completely unnoticed.
-The several times the 20 Magnetic Zeros tried to figure out what to do next.
-The magic from the 2010 Magnetic Zeros concert I was promised stayed in 2010. Three of my concert companions reminded me of this, often. The reminders were not necessary.
It was a fun night with friends and music- and really, what else does a concert need to be?
