The Alabama Shakes

These guys have been blowing up. I heard about them for the first time two weeks ago in the Sunday New York Times (article). Since then they seem to keep popping up... On the jukebox at the Laurel Tavern last Saturday, as openers for Jack White on his upcoming tour, and in recent rave reviews in Uncut and Rolling Stone. Clearly this band is all about the lead singer's amazing voice (and it is amazing, there is a video of them on YouTube where she does a great job with Led Zep's How Many More Times). I think I might just march down to B Side and purchase their new tape.
