Jim James, Regions of Light and Sound of God

Jim James, lead singer and songwriter from My Morning Jacket, has released his solo album "Regions of Light and Sound of God". A nice review of the album appeared on RollingStone.com yesturday. The album sounds a lot like My Morning Jacket, minus the guitars. Fitting the album's name, Jim James truly sings like an angel. That is not to say the album doesn't have good instrumentation. Jim James performed the song 'A New Life' on Jimmy Falon Monday night. Check it out here--it was an incredible performance (the Late Night video I originally posted from youtube.com was deleted, so below is the studio album version, also from youtube.com):

If you have time, read the RollingStone's Q&A with Jim James- his responses are funny and refreshing. It also gives a nice background as to why he did his solo album.

I am a week late on blogging this, the audio is no longer available on NPR's First Listen. If you don't buy the album, I hope you get to check out the tracks somewhere on the internet. I really like beautiful music, and this album is beautiful.

On an almost unrelated note, Jimmy Falon released his 3rd installment of Downtown Sixby last night. Jim James blogging lead me to Jimmy Falon... I digress. This video is for my sister:
