Rock and Roll Love Affair with Prince
I have had a 20+ year love affair with Prince. He can be credited with introducing me to my love of music, and was my first 'favorite' artist (well, Michael Jackson had a pretty close run for the title when I was in 2nd grade, but Prince has been my constant throughout the years). I missed a pretty increadible (but expensive and impossible to get into) experience in Minneapolis last weekend. Prince played three nights at the Dakota Jazz Club. The Dakota Jazz Club is downtown, and a great place to see a show. Seldom are the acts to the level of popularity of Prince, and it is pretty safe to say that the tickets went like hot cakes. This blogger would have undoubtably found a way to go five years ago, but it sadly was not in my cards for last week. Lucky attendees checked their electronic devices at the door, and were treated to the ultimate, intimate Prince experience. 89.3 the current covered the three nights on their blog. The first of three entries can be found here. I've never been able to pin-point the reason that I've ended up living in Minneapolis, but perhaps subconsiously my 20 year rock and roll love affair with prince has something to do with it. Maybe not, but the hope of being able to catch another show like this in the future might have me sticking around a little bit longer.
