Hell Hath No Fury Like a Jack White Scorned...

Terrifying music video aside, Blunderbuss is incredible. At first listen, it is a CD that should be enjoyed in full, loudly. The variety of instrumentation, style, and lyrics makes the listening experience full and enjoyable. Second time through, I couldn't help but to feel sorry for Jack White, as the songs begin to take on a sad, depressed,  'I hate my ex-wife' feeling. Third time through, I wasn't so convinced I had a clue what the songs were about, but knew that the rhythms and melodies (of every song) were easy to listen to, immediately recognizable, and still best played loudly. This album is polished, but not in the way you would expect an artist this many years into their career. Polished in the way that only a masterful musician can.

and then I watched this video... and now I'm terrified. This song isn't about being pissed off at his ex-wife at all. It's about people doing crack in hell? Well, the music is awesome.

    1. DB, the biggest White Stripes fan I know, just said to me, "This album has the 'end of your career' sound. You know, not in a good way." DB doesn't read this blog nor knew what I typed. I had to laugh... apparently there are varying opinions of what 'polished' sounds like.
