when the hardcore punk band the bronx was asked to record an acoustic version of one of their songs, they instead did a mariachi version on a lark. they enjoyed making it so much, that it spawned a spin-off band, mariachi el bronx. you don't have to like hardcore punk, or even mariachi necessarily, to enjoy mariachi el bronx. here they are performing live on kcrw:
