Tiny Desk - Beirut
I first became aware of Beirut via their album Gulag Orkestar. I probably became aware of that album via future You Guy's Like Sting? blogger, Julia. Anyway, Beirut has a heavily Eastern European-influenced sound. Apparently, this stems from their lead singer, Zach Condon's time travelling Europe as a a17 year old high school dropout. I'v enjoyed pretty much all of Beirut's music that I've listened to, which isn't all of it, as they've been pretty prolific over the last 5 years. They released a new album, The Rip Tide, this past June, and recently performed a "Tiny Desk concert" at the NPR studios, which I have provided below...enjoy.
